VINEYARD
THE VINEYARD: Hills to the west and east of the Stags Leap District funnel breezes from San Pablo Bay into the region, making it slightly cooler at night than other areas in Napa Valley. This subtle climate variation and the appellation’s mix of volcanic and loamy soils result in wines with a beautiful and focused flavor profile. Our estate vineyard is planted to multiple clones, and we selected our favorite barrels of each for a Cabernet Sauvignon with concentrated fruit, rugged tannins, and elegant structure.
THE VINTAGE: The 2023 vintage of Napa Valley was exceptional. With one of the longest growing seasons in a decade or more, its consistent, mild weather throughout the season and abundance of sunshine allowed grapes to ripen slowly and develop maximum flavor concentration while maintaining great acidity. Harvested between October 3 and 16 of 2023, the fruit led to a vintage with freshness, purity, and elegance.
TASTING NOTES
Aromas: Black cherry, blackberry, baked plum, and cherry pie, complemented by fresh sage and vanilla
Flavors: Intense fresh cherry and blackberry, followed by a savory olive tapenade note and robust mocha and coffee on the finish
Body: Plush but juicy on the palate, with its round texture and fruit concentration balanced out by a good acidity, robust tannins, and a lengthy finish
