Vineyard To Kalon Vineyard

Composition 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot

The fruit for this wine cam exclusively from our To Kalon Vineyard, which is located on prime benchland in the Oakville appellation. The well-drained, low-fertility soils and optimal sun exposure here enable the development of rich, complex flavors, impeccable phenolic maturity, and varietal character. The wine is 94% Cabernet Sauvignon chosen from five of our favorite lots from this site, the balance is equal parts Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

Pts. Decanter "Full-bodied, framed by an array of plush dark black fruit notes, currants, crème de cassis, and polished tannins that are firm and elongated, with ironstone mineral accents." - Decanter, September 2024
Pts. Wine Spectator "This is lush and seductive in feel, with a gush of boysenberry and blackberry compote flavors that rolls through, along with melted black licorice, mocha and Christmas pudding accents. A flash of warm paving stone at the tail end keeps this grounded, and a charming purity emerges as this airs in the glass. Best from 2025 through 2040." - Wine Spectator, November 14, 2024
Pts. Wine Advocate "The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon To Kalon Vineyard Reserve is 94% Cabernet Sauvignon (Clones 4, 31 and 337) and 3% each Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Like the red blend, it spent 20 months in 100% new French oak. Subtle tobacco and cigar box shadings accent black cherries and cassis on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is rich and velvety, showing ample length on the finish." - Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, October 17, 2024
