VINEYARD
THE VINEYARD: The fruit for this wine came exclusively from our To Kalon Vineyard, which is located on prime benchland in the Oakville appellation. The well-drained, low-fertility soils and optimal sun exposure here enable the development of rich, complex flavors and impeccable phenolic maturity.
THE VINTAGE: The 2022 growing season was mild, dry, and very pleasant through August. Temperatures surged for a week in August. Our grape-growing and winemaking teams worked nonstop to keep the vines healthy and happy until temperatures cooled. In the cellar, the wine spent 30 days on the skins to maximize varietal character and complexity, and was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels (32% new).
TASTING NOTES
Aromas: Plum, blackberry, and graham cracker with mint, baking spices, and persimmon
Flavors: Dark plum with notes of sage, black licorice, sherry, berries, and spice
Body: Mouthcoating and rich with a juicy, fresh fruit character and long finish
