A notoriously challenging variety, Pinot Noir thrives in the Carneros region, with its cooler temperatures and foggy, wind-swept slopes. The climate here helps to maintain the aromatic complexity and bright acidity of the grape while flavor development advances. The character of Dijon Clone 777 is more dependent on specific growing site than is the case with some other Pinot Noir clones. The fruit for this year’s Clone 777 bottling came from two of our top growers in Napa Carneros which present an elegant but powerful take on this lovely clone.
