THE VINEYARD: The fruit for this wine came predominantly from our To Kalon Vineyard, which is located on prime benchland in the Oakville appellation. The well-drained, low-fertility soils and optimal sun exposure here enable the development of rich, complex flavors, and varietal character.
THE VINTAGE: The 2022 growing season was mild, dry, and very pleasant through August. Temperatures surged for a week in August. Our grape-growing and winemaking teams worked nonstop to keep the vines healthy and happy until temperatures cooled. In the cellar, the wine spent 23 days on the skins to heighten varietal character and complexity. Each lot aged for 19 months in French oak barrels (70% new), ensuring seamless integration of fruit, tannins, and oak, before the final blend was determined.
