With its cooling marine influences, the southern Carneros region is home to some of Napa Valley’s finest Chardonnays.  The 2018 Reserve Chardonnay blend was sourced exclusively from the appellation’s renowned Hyde Vineyard. The microclimate of this vineyard, along with its clay loam soils, continue to create ideal conditions for the development of beautifully expressive Chardonnay year after year.

Coming all from the Hyde Vineyard in Carneros and brought up in 50% new French oak, the 2019 Chardonnay Estates Tier is brilliant, with clean citrus, lemon, white flower, and subtle tropical nuances (which is classic Carneros) in a medium to full-bodied, gorgeously balanced style. Previously released as the Reserve Chardonnay, I’d be happy to put bottles in a lineup of the best from California. I’d drink it over the coming 4-6 years, but I have no doubt it will evolve for upwards of 15 years if well stored.
